Thrissur Pooram

Submitted by munnabhai Location: Trichur (Thrissur) (Kerala, India)

During Pooram one gets maximum gays every year. The hockey stadium is a great place to meet up. The loos at the Pooram ground is always full of gay men.

Post details of your plans and experiences here.

First Year at Thrissur – Learning the Vibe

This was my very first year, so I played it cautious—observing more than acting, trying to understand the energy, the people, and how things flow. The weather? Honestly, brutal. But manageable once you get into the rhythm of the place.

I arrived on A12 day, when the crowd was just settling into Thrissur. That’s when you really start noticing where the action quietly builds.

The “cruising” scene here isn’t loud—it’s subtle. Lodges, dimly lit corners, and small parking spaces become the hotspots. Hotels like Emerald and Malabar tend to have most of the crowd.

Daytime is more about eye contact—sunglasses on, casual scanning, silent conversations. Night is when it gets interesting. A slow walk around lodges or parking areas, and you’ll notice signals—lingering looks, slow walks, quiet invitations from balconies or verandas.

For me, cigarettes were my icebreaker. An unbuttoned shirt or a loose sleeveless tee, a bit of attitude, and just standing there smoking—it draws attention. Eye contact does the rest.

Most conversations start innocently—asking about Pooram, timings, first-time experiences. Then it naturally shifts—where you’re staying, where you’re from… and eventually, hints at “company.”

Since I stayed alone, I’d mention I don’t prefer sharing rooms. That usually leads to curiosity. They offer to walk you back, check out your place—and from there, the vibe speaks for itself.

Sometimes, it’s not about chasing—it’s about creating the moment and letting it come to you

I want to go next year...

How was the experience this time? Apart from Bindu theatre, I believe there are restrictions everywhere now and police harrasment?
