Being gay and muslim
As someone from the Hindu community, I'm open about my sexuality with some friends and continue to practice my faith. Personally, I've never felt that being queer is in conflict with my religious beliefs, as Hinduism doesn't condemn homosexuality. However, I recognize that this may not be the case for everyone — especially for those who are queer and Muslim.Traditional interpretations of Islam view same-*** intimacy as sinful. I'm genuinely interested in hearing from a Muslim man who identifies as gay. I can only imagine how complex it must feel to be born into a community where your sexuality may not be openly accepted. How does it affect your sense of self — your faith, your identity, your relationships? Is there a way to find balance between both parts of who you are — being Muslim and being gay? I’d really value hearing personal perspectives on this. Reply/Post a comment

Thank you for asking this with sincerity and respect. This👇👇 is a response grounded in traditional Islamic teachings, shared with respect and care. It’s meant to reflect the personal and theological tension many Muslim queer individuals experience, not to judge or invalidate anyone’s path
Your openness and empathy are genuinely appreciated, especially when discussing something so deeply personal and nuanced.
In traditional Islamic teachings, same-*** sexual relations are considered sinful. This is based on interpretations of the Qur'an, Hadith, and centuries of scholarly consensus. *However, it’s also important to understand that Islam makes a clear distinction between feelings and actions. Experiencing same-*** attraction is not sinful in itself; rather, the sin is understood to lie in acting on those desires sexually, in the same way Islam regulates heterosexual conduct (outside marriage, for example).*
*That said, being Muslim is about striving for a relationship with God*, and every Muslim has personal challenges—whether they are related to desires, habits, or identity. Some Muslims who identify as gay choose celibacy or find other ways to reconcile their faith and identity without acting on their desires. Others may interpret the scriptures differently, seeking inclusive readings. Still others live with the tension, navigating both their religious commitments and their sexual identity with quiet resilience.
This isn’t easy. It can feel isolating. Faith communities may not always be welcoming, and queer spaces may not always understand religious commitment. But many Muslims in this situation still find deep meaning in their relationship with Allah, in prayer, fasting, and seeking His mercy.
For those who are struggling, it’s important to remember that Islam is also a religion of compassion, privacy, and inner striving (jihad al-nafs). Only Allah fully knows each person’s path, their sincerity, and their struggle. Judgment belongs to Him alone.
So yes, it is possible to be both Muslim and gay in terms of identity—though it often involves tension, sacrifice, and personal interpretation. Each individual must find their way with sincerity, and as Muslims, we are taught to support one another with kindness, not condemnation.
Thank you again for creating space for this conversation with care and openness. May all of us, regardless of our backgrounds, walk with empathy and understanding toward one another. |

For ur kind information Muslims ate more active into this... the Islamic country Pakistan is on top. Data says Pakistan is on top 1 to watch gay p*rn...... yha tak ki pak govt ne gay s*x activity ko control krne k liye grindr jesi kafi apps ko ban krke rkha he. ... so don't think Muslims bechare he or gay hona unke liye jyada challenging he. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

While Islam condemns same-*** relationships it hasnt stopped muslim people from indulging in them although the risk is very high and it might come at the cost of your safety or even life. Most Islamic countries have banned same-*** relationships and if you are caught, the penalty can be quite severe. On the other hand, countries like pakistan & afghanistan have a concept of "bachha baazi" where young boys are traded in open bazaars for *** or as *** slaves. Personally, I find this practice quite disgusting and immoral.
I have come across a lot of muslim men on this website but their religious ideologies and mentality are conflicting with mine so I declined them as politely as possible. As friends, they are cool but I wont go any further than that. Mind you, I have a few cousins and close family friends who are muslims so dont try to call me islamophobic. I respect all religions but not at the cost of my own peace of mind or safety. I would rather remove myself from the equation than cause trouble or hurt someones religious sentiments. |

While my comment is not fully in line with the post, one of the best hookup I had was with a Pakistani Muslim. Being in UK, legally, everyone has freedom to practice one's own sensuality while the church here has still not agreed to conduct same *** weddings in Church, however, as I understand, there are communities in UK where Shariah law is allowed. Hence it may be difficult for such people to be part of the community and same time practice their sexual orientation. Since then, I have met 3 other Pakistani Muslims who was married and had kids as well. Even back in India I had a chat with one man but never happened to meet. I am Hindu. and visit temples as well. I belive, faith is what we are brought up with mostly by parents and get instilled into our brain. our orientation is results of our hormones and exposure. Unfortunately these two conflict more so for Muslims. But what I have heard(just heard) that a lot of kids who are sent for religious education at a young age are sexually exploited. So neither life nor religion has been fair to anyone. But for people who are into it sometimes it is a pain. |

@CCBOMB I agree with your what you wrote above, since I had multiple sexual encounters with Pathans from Afghanistan who are refugees in India, staying in Delhi. I mated with the pervert Pathans who were above 50 and 60 years old. They were completely dedicated to have their pleasure from my body. I was very young at that time, so I had no religious or cultural curiosity, to ask such questions. But what I noticed was that they were never scared to be caught by anyone in the act. In fact that took pride in sharing with their friends how they pierced my tiny *** with their meat pipe.
Yes, the sheikhs from UAE and Maulanas from Iran do give a vibe that they want to keep everything secret. The only thing that's common between all muslim men that I mated was that they all prayed dedicatedly. That discipline and fear of being exposed doing forbidden sexual acts with another man does make them extremely excited, which makes it more thrilling for me as a submissive bottom! |

It seems that my core question hasn't been fully understood here. That’s alright—it's not always possible for everyone to grasp everything. |

Hinduism doesn't consider homosexuality a "sin" nor does it rly care. Doe modern hindu society it's just a stigma, not seen as something inherently evil or sinful and criminal. islam on the other hand openly condemns it and has a very negative and criminal opinion of it, hence the rampant homophobia in muslim community and countries (not that others are much better tbh). ive seen muslim queers who are straight up atheist because of this and there are others who still practice islam despite knowing it is against their identity. your question is very broad and depends upon what background a muslim gay man is from. |
| Dreamybott | Posted On Jun 7, 2025
@Thirstresponder imo when it comes to muslim and homosexual relationships I have seen there are broadly 3 classification:- 1. Ppl who actively enjoy homosexuality and care less abt religion itself , kinda like segregating personal life choices nd spiritual practices, most of them have a clear understanding that the relationship between a person nd divinity should be on individual level rather than aggregate. 2. Ppl who have such relationships but are constant ridden by shame, fear, guilt or combination of them. It tends to develop due to the environment nd not able to understand abt ur own emotional needs which are in ever standing conflict with the societal norms nd religious restrictions. The questioning of such conflict between emotional nd human needs in light of islamic values are rarely taken well, so a person has the only option to live it like a dual life. 3. Ppl who don't care abt these matters for them its more of a gratification thing. The idea of relationships is out of window , the perversion and fulfillment of their sexual desires are important more than so their partner's desire. |

@kappu_k ur tone is very biased? It seems u live in a bubble that formed post 2014.
In hindu, community the worse can happen in society is that they will reject u, banish u and ignore u. Meanwhile even with stats of high gay activities in their community u r forgetting that being anything other than straight can sometimes go punished which can stone pelting to death.
Noone asking to show sympathy towards them but don't spread stupid logic. I for one feel lucky that as a Hindu worse can happen is I will be disowned in my society and have to start from zero in somewhere else |
| ThirstResponder | Posted On Jun 7, 2025
@Sardartop33, I think there might have been a misunderstanding. At no point did I say that Hinduism supports homosexuality. What I actually meant was that Hinduism doesn’t condemn it—there’s a difference. While there are many mythological references within Hinduism that appear to support same-*** relationships, my point was more about the absence of condemnation in religious texts rather than an explicit endorsement.
I understand that not everyone is spiritual or religious, but for people like me, faith plays a meaningful role in our identity. I practice my religion sincerely, and being gay is also a part of who I am. Fortunately, in Hinduism, I’ve been able to reconcile both aspects of myself without internal conflict.
However, I recognize that this might not be the case for everyone. For instance, many gay Muslim individuals face more intense inner dilemmas due to the strict religious interpretations they’ve grown up with. My intention was simply to understand how they cope with that ongoing tension between their faith and their sexuality.
Regarding Section 377, I’m glad that it was partially struck down. Of course, non-consensual ***, *** with minors, or any sexual activity in public spaces should never be acceptable or legalized, regardless of orientation.
Also, I’d like to gently remind you to keep the tone respectful. I may be younger than you, but age doesn’t determine the value of a person’s perspective. I understand that despite being a middle-aged man you might not be that open-minded and well-informed, but I believe everyone deserves to be spoken to with consideration. |

Every Religion is artificial and man made. Every religion preach morality, morality is in mind, irrespective of morality everyone suffers in life and perishes. No religion can guarantee that if we are absolutely pious and moral our life would be a cake walk in fact we have read the stories of super moral icons like Ram Sita, Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed each are touted to be highly moral and pious but their lives had been portrayed as miserable and painful. So no religion could predict the algorithm of life and the source and reason for this existence and creation. So let’s forget this artificial man made religion and embrace and enjoy this opportunity of life and that would be the real tribute we could do for the creator |

@Shivaprakash wonderfully said.
I am not Muslim, and I believe that religion is man made, and often becomes the tool to super impose the popular morals of the society upon its masses. For example, gay/bi muslims in UK/USA/Canada etc take part in Pride parades, are more okay with their faith and sexuality, but if you look at muslim gay/bi men in highly conservative Islamic nations like Saudi or Afghanistan they may struggle with their faith and sexuality. But can also be considered a sterotypical view, because even in the most conservative of societies man cannot completely undo their sexuality. They may fear love and emotional connect but *** always happens.
A journalist did an article about lgbtq lives in a conservative Islamic nation like Saudi. Its on the website of "theatlantic.com" with the headline "A Kingdom in Closet".
Gay *** is everywhere, a small tribal village in Africa, a cosmoplitan city in Europe, a conservative city in India or anywhere. And this has been the case forever.
Being gay/bisexual/lesbian/trans+ is a natural as being human, as natural as breathing.
Whether you are a Muslim, Sikh, Jew ,Hindu or anyone else, please never feel guilty about your sexuality. :)
Love should always win. |

No matter what religion is. Hindu, Muslim, Christian. It's the society, in countries like India, MENA countries, south east asia and even some euro countries like Hungary. has been taught from the beginning that homosexuality is abnormal, bad, sickness. I would blame the religious leaders primarily, who only seek power and monetary benefits being main players. They need population to thrive and homosexuality resists that somewhat. Some of them could be hypocrites. Then there are politicians in like in ours, where we call homosexuality as western practice. Not to mention religious fanatic groups who hunt even straight dating couples nowadays. Homosexuality was always considered tabboo and was suppressed from olden days and, now we are seeing the fruits of it as population overgrowth, migrant crisis, jobs crisis, etc |

Hailing from a conservative Muslim family, firstly it became too hard to accept myself as gay. Accordingly I studied classical Arabic to understand Quran and yes, this so called scripture directly considered being a homosexual is a dangerous crime even then m urder somebody. So gradually I become Islamosceptic and now I can say me a truly secular one. |

I am muslim i am bi i *** woman i *** by man i am not married i am not interested marriage i know what i do is a sin if my god will punish me for that i will accept that punishment i still believe in islam but i am on just held on to sin that I can't let go as long as I don't hurt anyone i am pleased with my life |

Shaikhshaikh- I think as long as you don't hurt anyone and try to be humble and good in life, doesn't matter if you *** a guy or a gal. Consensual adult relationships can never be bad. Religious books are all written thousands of years back. We have to evolve with times. |

Bachcha bazi is very very common in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Both are Muslim countries. In pakistan truck and bus drivers often lure young male minors into their trucks or buses at night outside dhaba to have *** with them. These minors are *** addicts or homeless orphans so easy targets. They are willing to get *** and used in every way for one time meal and 50 to 60 rupees. I read on twitter that when american marine and army were stationed in Afghanistan then there they used to hear screams of kids getting raped by afghanistan military men all night. But USA government had given them struck orders to not to interfere with their cultural practices. Shemale s are used in tawaif and dance during marriage in front of all male audience in mujra at night. Shemales are very common in pakistan for mujra. But most muslims are too scared to admit their gay addiction openly. But muslim men do love to *** men and get raped by men. It happens a lot in pakistan villages or rural areas. Pathans are known for being homosexuals. In ancient times when army was away from their wives they often used to *** and *** each other to satisfy their sexual urges. This also was used to create deep bonding between army men. |
