This is something I have been feeling for a long time now and have noticed a similar pattern in most reviews and spots nowadays.
Cruising spots are slowly becoming more and more scarce, and the act of cruising is becoming more and more risky. Every time I read about a cruising spot nowadays its soon followed by a description of how the place is not happening anymore because of scams and frauds or honeytraps laid by the police. Either that or the place that was once there doesn't exist anymore due to newer construction or developments.
Meanwhile other places which have serious potential of being cruising spots just aren't safe enough because of thugs, goons and *** addicts. Even trusting someone online nowadays has become a fatal risk due to news reports and stories of attacks on the LGBTQ+ community members wherein the victim gets lured and trapped by someone posing to be a member of the community.
I personally have visited cruising spots which were super active in the past only to be completely dead, demolished, and/or risky due to surveillance or thugs/goons nowadays.
I wanna know the community's views on this, do you guys feel the same? Or am I just way too paranoid regarding the entire cruising scene here?

I had traumatic experience in Pune, fortunately I have been saved otherwise, not sure whether i would have robbed or mugged or murdered.
Not sure if the cops and those goons ( they were saying they are from police department ) are teamed up. They were showing some stupid ID card looks like some sevak group card from some sevak group, as if i am some dumb guy. And they were shaming me and threating me to get me jailed on cruising in public toilet. They tore my t shirt also attacked me on my leg with an iron rod. They were saying if you want close this matter here or you want to go to police station. I told them i would chose to go to police station because my gut feeling was saying they are not from police.
Fortunately, a cop was passing by on bike and i screamed help, he stopped and came to protect me. I told that cop whole story and asked him to take me to police station otherwise these people will kill me.
That cop talk to them in Marathi and they were looking nervous and showing that card and saying i was drinking and was taking drugs ( why did they scared and lied if they want me to arrest for cruising in public toilet) that cop asked me are you drunk? I said not at all and blown my breath on cops face to prove it.
I told to that cop to take me to police station right now as i want to file a complaint on this incident, he told me to sit pillion on his bike and we left on cop's bike. I narrated entire scene of public toilet and told him i just went to pee and those goons started thrashing me. He dropped me to bus stop and told they won't come back and if anything happens you dail in helpline number.
Not sure if this was a setup, i believe i was lucky enough and that cop was savior!
Lesson Learnt:
Not gonna cruise outside in Pune ever!!!

Thank you all for sharing your views, I assumed I was the only one with such views.
I'm from Mumbai and although the cruising scene here isn't as dead as it is in some places, it's definitely down a considerable bit.
Biggest blow to the cruising scene here has to be the shutting down of Imperial Cinema, what was earlier a wonderland for tops and bottoms alike had to shut down due to no business revenue during COVID times and now no place even comes close to the freedom and opportunities we all had there. Apart from that many public loos which were equally active earlier are now constantly under surveillance, like the Kurla station platform number 4 (or 5) loo was super awesome, I've *** so many *** there and even had fun with shemales on |

*Even had fun with a shemale on one occasion, but now it has an attendant sitting outside, another such spot was the dark lane outside Matunga station, I had some fun earlier over there but when I visited recently, the lane had been redeveloped and was no longer active like it used to be, I went there daily for almost 3-4 days and stayed there for anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours, but no luck whatsoever. |

With so many dating apps available now a days nobody wants to take risk of cruising. In earlier generations, cruising was the only option to hunt for guys. Most convinent place was loo.
I know, there's thrill of doing it outside but I am also a victim of bullying by a fake cop scene. Lost 2000 rupees in 2012.
Since then I never go to isolated place for cruising. When safer options are available like dating apps, I feel public toilet cruising is not necessary. Of course dating apps are not 100 percent safe but definitely much safer than cruising plus you get to choose the guy from a wide range of options.
Apart from dating apps, if I like any guy, I approach him humbly and confess my feelings. If they're interested they reciprocate otherwise they refuse. Nowadays guys are more understanding and everyone knows LGBTQIA scene better because of awareness. |

I feel most of the stories of encounters at gay cruising spots were just made up fantasy stories or exaggerated stories. So far I have never met any person at any of the crusing spots mentioned on the internet. But then again I am from Delhi NCR area. Maybe hot stuff really happened in rajeshwari theater. I have masturbated to almost all the stories shared on the thread of rajeshwari theater and I even had plans of visiting that place once in my life. But it's really sad that it is closed. I guess it's better to meet people publicly and build trust then go for direct fun at the cruising spots. Lust can wait for another day. In Hyderabad, I usually have fun now in hotels like sitara grand which is a bar and restro, where they keep table spots dark, where two can sit, have beer and starters and let the hands *** work under the table. NTR garden used to be good, but now it's being renovated. MG bus station has a lonely place below it's metro station where many empty buses are parked. It's a great place for two to have a quick fun. |

I guess the whole setup is to extort money by thrashing, humiliating, shaming, mugging and you never know if they even want to murder thinking you do not belong to this society and no right to live. Most of us give up in the situation because, we do fear and have emotional thoughts and want to get out of this situation.
I do keep thinking what could have happened if that cop did not save me? I believe he was definitely a savior for me.
I just want to suggest and say loud, avoid such cruising spots and I feel that way we avoid giving an opportunity for anyone to over power or humiliate us. :-( |

In my view, cruising spots are getting misused by robbers and local rowdies in Chennai . I had come across many stories in person and online as well . People are avoiding those places because of threatens from local guys started to beat the guys and take their belongings it’s usual things in Chennai . I had very bad experience , I was traveling from Tambaram to beach and got attracted by a guy at Thirisulam and had talk about each other and decided if we can some quick fun . We got down and Meenambakkam and went out of track inside bushes . We haven’t expected anyone that time but few local guys started to abuse and beaten both of us . They took wallet and cellphone from the guy and I lost 1000 rupees . I am not new to chennai but never explored with local spots . |

based on Moobs' exp seems Pune has gone from too good to too scary. I have cruised @ Public Toilets and the theater, even in Pune station loo.
I did have a harrassment exp in Bombay long time ago n ended up losing 500rs to a setup of conmen. one guy enticed me in churchgate loo n took me to a building across the road where his friends encircled me. then was too shy n fearful.... gave them the only 500 I had on me.

Hello guys, Sad but true! The cruising spots are dying out and I put most of the blame on the online dating apps. I have been crusing since the mid 90s and been a Mumbai guy have had *** in some of the most unimaginable places., especially on Satruday nights...The Walls , Loo near the muesuem, Fort (nr Siddhart college), bushes around the Jehangir Art Gallery, open spaces on Oval Maidan...oh u cant even imagine!! Back then, the city was much kinder and there were dark spots available for us to breath. Today's times are a whole lot different. While I agree and empathise with those having unpleasant experiences, I still prefer cruising the old way. Using my discretion, I have walked away at the slightly hint of people trying to scam you or hurt you or trying to be funny. Being a local chap, I also know the lingo and ways of getting around if in trouble. Since cruising is on the decline, the only opening that is available now is those Parties that are organised by *** (lord rest his soul) or any of those guys at Mini Goa at Nalasopara. These are places you can have fun at the same time protect your real identity also. But guys, it is upto us to really keep that flame going for the crusing spots. Use Discretion and walk away if you smell trouble...but do also enjoy if you get a chance and make the most ot it...Cheers!! |

Worse are those annoying profiles where apparently the "Top" has a specific requirement of only having *** with Unsatisfied Wives, Aunties, and Bhabhis of the bottoms, meanwhile some others take it a bit further by requiring the bottom to be a part of the action as a cuck.

Im from Pune and really currently its a very bad condition about the cruising Spots in pune as compared to old days.
Since last 20+ years I know most of the cruising spots situated in and around Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad area.
I feel very bad when I heard or seen that some Spot is closed or demolished which was I knew and enjoyed at that place so many times.
As per my opinion and as per comments also it's 100% correct that due to New dating apps, due to blackmail issues, goons, cops and all these issues Cruising spot are dying day by day. |

True statement. Things got worst after technology improved. People are getting into online and become more commercial. Some culprits are misusing the the things it is reducing the value of cruising spots. Earlier there was a bar in Bangalore to meet the guys in Bangalore every day, and weekends were special. That scenes are looks almost bill.
The availability of Internet spoiling everything. Lets hope to have little improvement of cruising spots and some other way of gathering of genuine people |

Its but natural due to so many dating apps and social media. Why would people visit if it is risky, unhygienic, dirty place? 30-35yrs ago, Mumbai trains were best cruising place. I am not sure of now. But I never liked to peep in public toilets esp. if they are dirty. Cruising by just staring is also much better. And nowadays there are so many gay parties that it becomes very comfortable to cruise there. And also LGBTQ friendly hotels, bars, restaurants, etc. are there. Yes Grindr had its impact, but indiatimes chat, Yahoo Chat, Gay.com chat were also there, but cruising spots still thrived. The reason is on grindr though the buffet is set, picking an item is painstakingly difficult. Check out yourself, how often it has happened that you checked grindr and within 10-15 mins you settled with a guy and ready to meet. While social media provides the accessibility to check who is around, meeting someone and then have fun is still at much lower percentage.
Seasoned cruisers will now that hit ratio at cruising spots is always high. Why otherwise every bus stand and mall loo has turned into cruising spot.
Yes previously flourishing cruising spots may have gone either because due to over popularity, wrong elements occupied the spots or source itself was demolished or destroyed. Given you an example- Marine drive in Kochi 5 years are cruising heavan after 9PM and the game use to go till 2/3 in morning. You could pick anyone from 18 to 70 at that spot. But post pandemic, you see families strolling till 11pm/midnight, once upon time space was sprawlled with only men after 9pm. You could bj or have circle jerk there, but now couples and families at till midnight making it difficult to have fun. Now also it has become riskier for closet cases, discreet men to play there because of being identified by by families at the spot all alone by themselve.
Secondly, the rise in STDs, pandemic, growing awareness of homosexual awarness among general public and risk of exposure because assume that online/app based search is safe. Is it really though? I had a chat with a married bottom, who is online 24/7 saying the does not go to cruising spots because he is afraid of catching an infection because people who come their are dirty. So he thinks just because he is meeting people on apps, they are clean. Its like pot calling kettle black.
Men are *** and they will not lose an opportunity to score irrespective whether it is cruising spot or not. I had once scored with a guy in a mall who was with his family. So ...the world is your cruising spot.

But gradually all places started shutting down....it is sad, now most gay cruising spots have pulled curtains....except Chhaya cinema in Kolkata...let that remain out of every vultures radar....
In Delhi, crusing in CP , Buddha Garden, Minto Bridge, ISBT all has dwindled....
In Mumbai, loo in Churchgate, loo opposite Metro cinema, Masjid Bandar mutri, Imperial theatre, video parlors, most has shut down...
Gay heaven in Pallakad , Sree Devi Durga theatre has shut...
Iruthaya theatre in Coimbatore has shut
Theatre opposite Padmanabhaswamy temple in Trivandrum has shut...
Rajeswari theatre in Bangalore has shut...
Blue Diamond in Chennai has shut....
Gay friendly theatre in Howrah has shut...
Gay crusing loos in kolkata near Dalhousie, Esplanade, Wellington square, Sealdah, Howrah , Ballygunge Station, etc have all eaither shut down or has become pay and use toilets....
Gone are the days when we cruised in the Rabindra Sarovar Lakes till late after midnight......
Very soon same *** dating will be restricted to Apps .... |

Sadly, sign of the times. All those places existed because of the support and participation of the m2m *** enthusiasts.
In the olden (some would say golden) days, the only way to ever meet someone was to land up in one of those places. There was no other way.
Now that you can surf hundreds of guys from ones bedroom and pick and choose them with plenty of pics of all "assets", no one wants to head to such places, especially the younger generation. SO those places are dying and then covid came and it was the end for a lot of the places.
I dont think it will ever completely die away but it will soon be restricted to the huge minority just like it is now in western countries. Cruising is the thrill of the chase way to hookup while the apps will just be the normal way to hookup. |
