There are many Tier 2 cities having all Male Dormitories / hostels having big common rooms for visitors, without having seperate individual rooms.
Such hostels or dormitories are often places to see males roaming openly in underwears or in dhoti with no underwear inside.

Well, Goa has a lot of dorms; Where knowingly or unknowingly you might endup in a sticky situation. I had booked a very famous dorm in Goa, near Anjuna. I was solo travelling in Goa in May end of 2025 (which was a bad time, cause it was extremely rainy and stormy). Already there weren't a lot of tourists in Goa, and the dorm was empty. I was in 1 room 4 bed dorm. The arrangement was like your typical AC sleeper train, just a lot more spacious. I was there for 4 days, and got the empty dorm for my day 1. The next day after having my dinner as i entered the dorm, I saw a cute Malayali guy was in towel standing in the room. Turns out he was a solo traveller like me too.
