28 above and still unmarried

Submitted by Norn Location: All India (All India, India)

One is expected to get married once he/she attains 25 or above in our society or community. Depending on the community, culture you live in there are different pressures levied on it. I'm not from the North so my culture and tradition is different from here in the North. The age for marriage is dynamic in my culture and not much pressure from family, friends etc. I've been in the North for a couple of years now and noticed that people rush for marriage once they're 25. It looks like they have this pressure of you have to get married before 25 or 27. When they're aware of me still unmarried they would act shocked and concerned and would suggest me the obvious suggestion. Almost 98% people at my work place above 25 are married and they would ask me when am I getting married. Ask me reasons to why I'm still unmarried at this age. I would explain them that it is very normal for us to be late or early. One guy at my workplace had experienced of working once in my state and he knows how things are different from here and he would helped me explaining lol. I understand there are differences in beliefs, customs, thinking, perceptions but when you live in a place or society which is very different from yours you feel awkward and embarassed at the same time haha.

How do you guys manage and live your life unbothered when there are necessary pressures or concerns even at your workplace. Forget about your friends and families haha.

I don’t have anyone to tell this to so I’m dumping it here. The guy I was dating for 8 months dumped me saying he wasn’t ready to commit. My heart feels shattered into a million pieces and I feel incredibly alone. I miss him so much. I wish he would take me in his arms and hold me tight like he always would. Vish if you’re reading this I miss you :(

@Sydguy22, breakups are common across all relationships. Just think that he lost someone who wasn't meant to be on his life. He is a loser!! You still have life ahead of you, so chin and take it forward.Trust me nothing comes out of cribbing and ranting, someone better is out there... Look forward to it..
