Hope this year we will hv wonderful pooram..i have booked hotel at emerald....as usual price is 3 times higher..... waiting for the action....am sure every rooms of emerald will hv gay friends...smile at corridor and serve at the elevator n rooms.....so wat abt you guys?

The restrictions stipulate that those above 45 years of age can enter the Pooram ground only if they are vaccinated, and those below 45 will have to produce certificates of RTPCR tests conducted at the most 72 hours prior to the event.
Also, children below 10 years will not be allowed to enter the Pooram ground, as per the decision taken at a joint meeting of the officials and Pooram organisers held online on Tuesday.
It remains to be seen how the restrictions will be enforced, and how many will turn up abiding by Covid norms for the Pooram to be held on April 23.

According to official source, the district has the capacity to conduct around 4,000 RTPCR tests daily, which would mean only around 12,000 people can come to the Pooram with Covid negative certificates, as the tests have to be done prior to three days. Another few thousands of people who have been vaccinated may also turn up for the Pooram, which usually draws tens of thousands of people.
At another level, enforcing these restrictions will also be challenging considering that Pooram is not held at a stadium, with specific entry and exit points. There are numerous entry points to the Swaraj Round and the sprawling Thekkinkadu Maidan located at the heart of the city, where the main events connected with the Pooram are showcased. Screening all those who make it to the Pooram areas would then be an extremely arduous task.
Collector S Shanavas said the Pooram ground will be divided into six sectors and the sectoral magistrates will carry out random checks to ensure that only people with RTPCR certificates or those who have been vaccinated have entered the Pooram ground.
