Thanks Adrian for your list... I saw this movie Loev... Probably the only sensible and good gay themed Indian movie that I could find... There are a few good gay themed movies in probably Thai or Indonesian language... You may search for them in YouTube with keywords like Gay Thai movie etc....
While there are many many gay themes movies and tv shows around some deserve special mention. One of them is the 1987 movie Maurice. This movie came out in 87 with gay relationships as the central plot! It is a classic and not an indie movie. It was produced by Merchant Ivory Productions that produced a lot of tastefull, classy and great movies. Of course the main guys behind the production house, Ismail Merchant and James Ivory, were a gay couple.
Coming to the movie itself, it is a story set in early 20th-century England (just like Downton Abbey - another great tv show - my favorite period) about a gay guy who tries to search for love and happiness. I'll not go into details so as to not spoil it for you. The production quality is top-notch and the narrative is superb. The actors do a really great job and the story touches on views on homosexuality during that era as well.
Weekend is an awesome about 2 stranger guys that meet up at a bar and share their feelings and opinions. And then fall in love with each other but never really disclose their love to each other. Its a nice love story between 3 guys. You can watch the movie on YouTube itself.

Loev - That's not a typo. That's the name of the Indian gay gay movie Loev released this year. Can't believe I missed it when it first came out. It is a really nice bilingual (english and hindi) movie about 3 gay guys and the complications in their relationship. The lead actors have done a really great job. The actor Shiv Pandit is really one piece of hot candy!

Sidenote: Sadly one of the leads Dhruv Ganesh tragically passed away before the release of the movie. That saddened me a lot. Amazing talent lost so early :-(
It’s always nice to see some gay themed movies the ones that I liked are - 1) Transamerica - Starring Felicity Huffman is an amazing movie of someone transitioning from being a male to a female and who realised that as a male she has a son and the bonding between the father who is a transgender and the biological son is amazing 2) Brokeback Mountain- This is an oscar winning movie and you have to be in the right mood to see this one it’s a slow paced love story between two mid western cowboys from an era when homose xuality was a taboo 3) Stranger by the Lake - This is a French film with English subtitles and is also available as a dubbed version in English. This is about men who cruise near a lake and two men discover themselves one of them is a criminal the other guy realises it but emotionally gets attached disputes knowing that the guy he is with is a psychopath. Being a European film there is a lot of frontal nudity and the film is again slow paced. Eating Out Series 1 2 3 and 4 - I think there are 4 films this is supposed to be a gay romantic comedy it’s hilarious in parts and if you are in a mood for some mindless fun this is it. I think part 2 and 3 are nice 👍🏼 also some male nudity and there is at least one hot guy in each part. Dostana - While the Indian gay community found the movie a caricature but this is the first movie to bring homosexuality to mainstream cinema. It definitely broke the people mindset’s and post this movie the acceptance has increased tremendously. It’s also a fun movie. Fire - It’s a slow movie and there was a lot of protest because 15 years back it was not common to see 2 women in love. Kapoor and Sons - This movie is amazing about a dysfunctional family with a lot of drama. Fawad Khan plays a gay character with utmost sensitivity it’s only revealed towards the end that he is Gay but no feminine traits and such a good looking guy 😻I thought it was a amazing movie.Pakistanis are so good looking. Boys Don’t Cry - Again you have to be in a mood to watch this movie. This is about a girl living as a boy because she can’t relate to her biological gender eventually gets brutally raped when her male friends discover she is a girl. The girl who is attracted to her thinking she is a boy continues to be attracted even after she knows it’s actually a girl.
Latter days - I like the wes's role..though Mac and wes thoughts on different about ***, fun and love , at the end the way the movie ended is really awesome.. I like the dialogues between these two in airport room outside (during snow) is much more meaningful and emotional.. Really a fantastic movie I can say from my point of view.
Have you heard of a Netflix series called Sense8 it's a complicated story about 8 people in 8 different locations in the world connected thru their soul. Each one can feel what the others feel. There is an amazing orgy scene where all of them actually mentally come together since they are se xually charged. I totally love watching that on YouTube.... just google Alfonso Herrera - Sense8 -Parte 5 It's got an amazing song called "All of my demons come alive" playing on the background. The whole love making between men-men woman woman man woman and finally all of them in the pool is picturised asthetically. Tell me what you think. I was a Sense 8 fan but they stopped it now. Some parts were nice but overall complicated story.
Danish girl - it's another movie which deals with a transgender relationship
MILK - it's a biopic on Harvey Milk - an openly gay American who as elected to public office. Though personally I disliked the movie since I was not impressed with milks philandering gay partnership which I found so superficial but really like one dialogue which he says quite often in the movie to gain public support "I am Harvey Milk and I am here to recruit you"
Philadelphia - Though it's a not a gay themed movie . It talks about a gay lawyer who was framed by his own firm as he was gay and a HIV infected and a straight lawyer who comes to fight for him legally. It won Tom Hanks an Oscar but in my view Denzel Washington was far good than him in that movie.. Also his character as a straight married guy who has his own reservations about gay HIV person later empathises on this gay lawyer and fights for him. This courtroom drama movie is one of all time favourite movies. You also get to see a twinkish looking Antonio Bandareas in this movie ;)
Moon light and call me by your name are Oscar winners and screenplay is about gay feelings. Moonlight may not arouse, but call me by your name has lot of erotic scenes.
@rajapot, You shared about ur view..that's fine.. But to see hardcore u can always go for *** movies.. you can see more and more there... We are trying to discuss about how love, feel and relationship is being discussed/showed in the gay movies is what we are discussing
@rajabot - sorry to diasgree with your viewpoint. If hardcore is what which is required there are upteem *** sites which shows nothing but the same *** or *** done in different styles or places. But a gay themed movie as such is much more than that. I wouldn't say I don't want hardcore scene in a gay movie but that isn't a mandate for a nice movie. As a gay person or for that sake any person of the LGBT when a movie talks their plight it is much more appealing to them
I give you an open challenge. Can you watch a full length hardcore scene for an entire 2.5 hrs time ? But we can definitely sit and watch a nice movie. Do you think a movie like "The Reader" kept people engrossed only for those initial scenes. Infact in many countries there were restricted and edited scenes. But I saw the uncut version of the movie but that last scene of the tea tin money .. That scene where she learns to read by circling every word when she hears in the audio.. Wow those were splendid.. More than those full frontal nudity in the initial scenes..( I took reader as a example though it's not a gay themed movie but to emphasise only hardcore scenes doesn't make a movie appealing)
Back to the topic : Movie : King Cobra - it's again based on a true story of murder of a guy who was popular in the gay *** industry producing online content. I watched the movie in French with English sub titles but it wasn't that interesting to me though the star cast included some very good looking guys like James Franco and Keegan Allen and a lot of hot scenes too.
To each his own if Raja bot likes it hardcore so be it....am not a fan of gay hardcore. I actually prefer the straight hardcore. If someone has watched Kal Ho Na Ho starring SRK and Saif Ali Khan there is this series of Kantaben jokes where the maid servant Kantaben thinks both of them are gay. That was hilarious. I saw the Tamil movie Goa had a small take on Gay. I think it is one of the early movies to show a gay fling. However most Tamil and Telugu movies portray gay characters in a very caricaturish manner.
I figured most good movies have been mentioned. There is this beautiful Mexican movie called Cuatro Lunas (four Moons). It has four different story lines intricately interconnected like a beautiful piece of tapestry. If you like art movies this is a must watch and I'm sure you'll love it
Apart from regular movies there are lot of gay short flims in youtube in various languages. Just amazing. I dont like gay hardcore. For hardcore I would rightaway go in for gay ***. Even in *** I like movies with short tales attached to them. Like how a lonely guy seduces a plumber and get him on the bed, how a doc seduces his patient, how a physical trainer seduces his client etc. Fruitcake, Falling for angles (just amazing series), Em Nome do Pai (In the name of the father),Brazilian Short Film are some of the excellent short flim which i enjoyed watching.
Comming to Indian cinema it just sucks. Atleast bollywood is ok since it acknowledges the presence of gays in the society but tamil movies- pathetic. It is pathetic to realize that tamil movie directors dont even know the difference between gays and tansgenders. For them, anybody guy who has a liking for another guy is a TG!!! Sick. Infact goa is the only movies which tried to recognize gays in society. Even in that movie the character of Sampath is portrayed as an effeminate character. God give me a break. 90% of gays whom I have met are more masculine than straight. Worst is the negative portrayal of gays in tamil movies: in vataiyadu velaiyady the gay couple was portrayed as psycopath serial killer. In the movie "Athu oru kana kaalam" Dhanush would be approched by a gay in the prison and he being "perfectly straight" would end up killing the gay. How sick? Even more worst is tamil comedy: "Gorilla cell" comedy by vadivelu, "Oh avana nee" comedy vadivelu, thulatha manamum thullum (vijay and simran) comedy, nadhi karaiyeniye etc etc.
Long time back I met a assistant director from PR. We met few times and had fun. I told him atleast he should attempt to make meaningful movies on LGBT. Many people dont understand homosexuality and hence associate it with mental disorder and that is what is portrayed in movies. The lack of awareness in the society is what is reflected in flims.
Love.Simon is a Hollywood movie released in March 2018 which has impressed the viewers a lot. This is a story of a closeted gay school boy who craves to come out. He emails a online gay boy from the same school and the two fall in love 😍 based on their chats but have never met physically. A lot of drama - Simon coming out, has some misunderstanding with friends and finally meets his online mate. A Gay story with a 😃 happy ending finally !!! I tried watching it but it’s not available online yet can someone suggest a site where we can see this movie
Love, Simon is a beautiful coming of age movie. @Exotic1234 try it at 123movies or putlocker. Call me by your name and Love Simon were two amazing movies adapted from books. If you get a chance read those. The films kinda don't really do that much justice. Fortunate enough to watch both twice in theaters.
