Anyone who attended previous year Pooram please provide some insights and any cautions as this is my first visit.

I plan to travel to the pooram Departing on April 17 evening by bus from Shantinagar bus stop in Bangalore. Have made accommodation reservation at a place in Chalakudy.
Plan to go to Trissur on April 28 and again on April 19 for the pooram.

I'm planning to be there for Thrissur Pooram 2024, happening on 19th April. Kind Of excited 😊😆 I was there last year but with my friends. This time I'm a solo traveler from Chennai to Thrissur. I have booked my tickets but stay alone I'm bit confused. Can anyone who is interested in clubbing me in would be really great. Of course, I would bare my share.

Guys, I have one train ticket from Sir CV raman station (Banaswadi) on 18th April and return on 20th April late evening from Thrissur for Pooram.

Done with Trissur pooram and might never go back again ... Had a great cultural fest and rest other details I will give my 2cents but to each on his own.
It's been few years i was planning for this event and finally it happened this time ...
Regarding pooram ... So much culture ,festivities, passion ,elephants was a great expr just to embrace the floric and how the entire city comes together to celebrate .. glad I did this.
Regarding the fun part .... Well I guess now ppl r conscious and everyone mostly knows ...
So few fun facts
Pooram is all abt culture n festivity n one must appreciate n respect it n nothing abt open gay fun ... In the past it might hv been cases whr in the crowd n heat ppl gt touched but in the wave of ppl dashing into one another I don't think it cud be a pleasurable expr . May b locals enjoy this more as they talk dirty n tease but it's not a gay concert .
Yes with the hype many ppl across states travel to pooram coz it's a full day n night of festivity which means no one is thr to question whr r u n u r lost in crowd .
Coz of the hype now many gay folks travel which makes the concentration of like minded ppl in one place benefitting the hotels n the app n ppl too as in the same hotel every room u will hv someone or grp etc ...
But the issue is still about do u like the pic in the app ... Ppl makes choices by looks n availability... quick fun so yes ur chances of having *** might increase few times but that's it ... U cud do similar by booking a hotel room in ur hometown n looking fr ppl .. might get 1 ..here u might get 4 if u tick all the boxes.
The place is full of daddy's n uncle's ... Don't mind but that's what it felt who came in grps trying to find boys to fk them .... Ok to b sugar daddies
For many yng boys it's abt a money making day ..they r all looking for mature ... few of the guys I knew turned into escorts overnight
Society being more aware of gay folks I don't think ppl appreciate being touched inappropriately so the thought that men become BI during pooram is false ...no whr in the ground ... Loos did I find ppl just embracing other men .. those who do are gay already n it's not on the ground at all ... Might b some corners of the street late nights ... Police is extra vigilant so again don't think anyone dares .. hotel rooms are safest n they know hence such high rates fr booking
Coming to public places ..visited the much hyped stadium ... It has turned into public parking so ppl in general come n go .. yes gay ppl r there plenty but they can't do anything openly n freely... Rather most kept looking at each other .. a touch here n thr ... All those stories abt men standing naked n stripping u down did happen fr some but soon goons attacked them ... Thr were fights .. lathis were charged ... Stones were thrown .. boys chased n beaten ... In bw PPL still tried to touch each other but in fear ... Literally saw students acting as bait ...get into crowd n with the slightest touch scream n gather thr frnds n beat ppl ... We r becoming more visible n ppl r frustrated waiting fr fireworks to happen .. they hv nothing to do n we become something to hunt down .. a witch hunt fr sure ....
I don't kno if thr r pleasant stories of public fun .. I doubt .
But yes with so many gays in hotels u surely can hookup ... Is it the best hookup may b yes but that can happen anywhere ... Chances are higher here hence u pay the extra ... Also given u hv come with the pretext of festival no one will question u so it's easy fr matured men .
But again don't think pooram is a gay fest .. it's not .. if ppl see u do this in public u will b beaten .
Now coming to me I hd flavour of both... met many across states hd some public fun too saw ppl being beaten theatened I was called out too but narrowly escaped..met frnds from hometown but my bubble has burst n I won't risk too much to be part of this if u r looking fr public fun or men throwing themselves at you given they r in pooram even in the app ... It's a wrong expectation set in earlier posts .. ppls preferences don't change but expectations grow .
So before u r saving fr next yr pooram fr the hotel may b think twice ... U don't need to travel all the way fr this .. or may b u do ..

I m here. I could not find anyone doing any *** anywhere in open. It is very hot and humid as well. Where do people do *** in open? I could see people available on grinder. But nobody i found while roaming outside...may be ppl might be doing *** in open some 5-10 years back. |

@joychek I think u missed the spot … stadium is a great place to have fun … I have been all 5 years and it’s a great place to get both mature and young gays .. it’s a place with mix of both .. all these years stadium is used as parking only .. fun part happened around the wall area .. it’s a real group fun with bjs … yes police come and shout and the crowd will go apart and they all join again ..
At times locals come and chase gays . However it’s not a huge disturbance .. and as u said it’s not true that police or locals beat the guys who have fun . They just try to chase away the crowd .
Other than stadium people grope and have fun in crowds also . As everyone has stated in this forum , Pooram is a festival of culture and color but also a paradise for gays .
I agree some may not like the humid climate and public fun .. but for people who enjoy public cruising , it’s a great place . |

Hardly anyone able to do anything in peace publically it became a spotlight of sort .. anyways just informed what I experience ...my def of paradise is diff ... Yes u will get men in plenty but what's the point of u can't play well.. |

A place to disgrace yourself and your existence = Pooram
Useless weather, no queer people and strictly fun was busted by police in the grounds and stadium... Felt worse than dogs to see educated, smart and capable people *** up diseased, infected, dirty and sweaty men... Shows the worst desperatoon a human can stoop to.
Indignified by scolding and patrol by police. The same sound of beats over and over again. But yeah native mallu guys are really hot and look delicious if young and well groomed.
The worst are the older perverted gang. One of our group members has been tested +ve for Syphilis and two of us have pubic lice... Rashes insect bites, abused and more. Hardly anyone uses condoms.. No place to wash after ***.
Sad to write this from westford hospital Thrissur. Guys who are ultra desperate and care for nothing can try wasting your future trips to get fun here. |

Basically I see frustration in your words … nd yeah climate is hot and everybody knows that .. yeah police and public create nuisance and disturbance but nobody is violent and it’s even more thrill . Reg the quality of people it’s a complete mix of guys .. it’s our choice ..
But guys who doesn’t like the thrill of public cruising and who expect 5 star clean ambience and air conditioned venue, this place is not for u . |

I haven't seen such crazy *** anywhere.. worth going once for some, and respect others who live to be in such situations more often... Everybody in today's old know about STDs. I think it's everybody's self responsibility rather than blaming someone for misleading or convincing people to visit. All are adults here and can take their own stand when it comes to safety. Anything that u do in public place is risk. It's either fun or get beaten up. |

Hey thanks .. n guys plz don't get me wrong ... Everyplace has its good n bad ... Everyone has preference .... I just expressed this as all we hear is how great n worth it is to visit but it has a prb side too which we all shld know n make a decision.
It's not a public g fest ... Hotels keep a blind eye as they make tons of money ... Only time they make money may b ..Uncle's n daddy's galore ... That's true with the money hotels charge I have always cancelled the plan and due to heat I can't stand Kerala during these months. In this money I have been to Himachal and Kashmir and about *** it happens when it should u really not need to be desperate and then get beaten up and insulted. Safety is important |

I am completely agreeing with @joycheck comment. I was there on 19th night, that exactly happened.
First there is no dark areas around stadium. There is a parking, guys are utilising the dark lane between vehicles. Since it’s parking, there are always vehicles on movement and there are shops in one entrance. I even see girls among few groups. It’s just they know, but many didn’t care. But others making a scene.
There are guys everywhere in town. Half of them drugged or drunken, in each and every street/lanes. There is no where open secs happening.
Lot of localite uncles eyeing everywhere.
But the local lodges and small hotels are filled with lot of gay people and. Secs was happening in every room.
Though I went solo, I made a mallu friend and we both went to his friend room to sleep for some time, fireworks was very late.
While we were in room, saw lot of *** straightly 😅. Mallus have no problem in having visitors. But they are very specific.
Considering the amount of sweat and humid, I didn’t indulge in anything.
Let’s break the myth. It’s just gathering of gays ! |
