KOLKATA CRUISING: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE

THIS thread attempts to list out the cruising spots in kolkata and in and around, no matter the inclusion of grindr and blued and scruff in our phones, nothing beats the old world charm of an old world cruising place, hanging out in cruising places in contrary to popular belief arent just meant for fellatio and hook ups, one can meet their friends, bitch and drool over guys, share conversations and pain and hardships. Kolkata as a whole in many ways is still ancient {thank god} and though the steel and glass might seem otherwise, the serpentine lanes, the rickety green windows on red dilapidated houses and the dinghy teashops are the true soul of this city.

this thread seeks to list out all the popular and not so well known cruising places in kolkata, i'd suggest everyone to contribute and pls add info on how to reach there from major well known locations

P.S **** gay cruising as thrilling as it might seem has its share of risks and safety issues that i'm sure all are aware of, i'd like to stress that NO cruising spot and i mean NONE in this city or elsewhere is 100% safe, always exercise caution, common sense and a bit of self restraint

1. there are thugs everywhere, straight or gay guys looking for easy cash [never carry lots of cash or cards on you, just enough to get you home]

2. Cops too might harass gay men, for money or notoriety or a skewed sense of morality [carry ID, minimal cash, have number of LGBT NGOs that might help, MOST IMPORTANTLY do no panic and be confident]

3. safe ***, always; no 15 mins of fun can equate to a life long illness, carry condoms; [NO CONDOMS = NO ***]

4. if you're feeling unsure about a location or a person who might be trouble; your GUT feeling is probably right = BAIL/RUN

5. never go to a cruising place drunk, you automatically become an easy target for nuisance,[ if you're with lots of friends, or people you can trust, little bit alcohol could be fun ]

6. if a guy who is waaayyy out of your league approaches you [be cautious]

7. Not everyone is looking for hookups in cruising places, some are shy, some are just checking out things, some are just not interested in YOU [ dont pester people ]

8. wear decent clothing, be clean, be hygienic ; dont be flashy and turn up in designer wear[unless its the right place, right time]

9.keeping a low profile always helps, [actually gets you more action ;) ]

10. steer clear of arguments, fights etc, these things always turn out to be ugly.

Good thing is that I always carry less cash. Personally, I do follow all the points you have mentioned and I would suggest fellow friends to do the same( especially the guys who are shy, introvert and are easily timid.) One more thing is that if you are the guy who goes to Chaya or Pradip Cinema halls, then dress indecently ! Like shorts & vest or lungi( if u please). Uncombed hai and without any deo or perfume. Trust me, it will keep the money seekers away!

No Picture abhiroy	Posted On Apr 18, 2020 1) PLACES: A) ESPLANADE/DHARMATALA: the grand dame of Kolkata cruising is in Dharmatala, the whole of this place u might be lucky if u r vigilant, smart and good at picking up straight guys, there are so many places here, from public toilets, to parks , to just small dark lanes, Dharmatala is simply the most busiest cruising place in eastern India without a doubt, but not all places boast of good quality or number of guys, use ur discretion wisely: 1) Curzon Park toilet: the biggest cruising place here; the loo at the left hand corner if u walk towards Eden gardens from the main bus stand, it was formerly also known as zig zag toilet, it is cruise throughout the day, with more action happening after dark, [be aware this place is frequented by cops very often and pick up whoever they see inside, there are also plain clothed policemen who are looking for easy money, they are mostly affiliated to Hare Street police station and usually leave people after taking minimal money; DO NOT PANIC] [this place is also a frequent place for stage political events and dharnas, and whenever such events happen, police are present in big numbers, steer clear] 2) curzon Park: the actual park is bang opposite to the public toilet mentioned above, cross the road, and turn right to the small lane towards the tram depot this lane is always frequented by guys/ men looking for action. 3) lane towards tram depot: walk towards raj bhavan and u’ll see a small lane leading to tram depot, once u enter after few meters is a small gated garden on both the right and the left, usually lot of shemales and men looking for them, the lane and the small parks are often areas of action 4) tram depot: the tram depot itself is a cruising place, with lot of it hindered due to the ongoing metro work, but an abandoned bus stop there, a huge banyan tree, and people flashing and peeing; tricky for a first timer, but safer than curzon loo 5) matangini hazra statue: walk towards Park Street and u’ll find this statue of matangini hazra, a freedom fighter, the statue is of a woman with a flag on her right hand, there are fountains installed under her, and places to sit around, including a circular seating around a tree, good place to find probable interested people 6) shahid minar: a prominent landmark, there are usually travellers sitting underneath the tower along with gay men chit chatting, there is a field adjoining it, with people sitting in small groups, frequented by gays and straights alike 7) bus stand paid toilet: The bus stand paid toilet was also a great place to find men before, don’t know how it is faring now as a cruising place 8) loo outside press club: walk today Park Street from the bus stand and u’ll find an open urinal just outside press club traffic signal on the left towards Park Street, still active after many many years 9) KC Das signal: the signal at the bentick st and Lenin sarani crossing just outside kC Das sweet shop was once a prominent place to pick up guys has slowed down on intensity after grindr and planet Romeo, but still you could find occasionally guys staring and all 10) sim park mall nearby manyavar: This place is also turning out to be a good cruising place in esplanade area, use grindr here to find nearby guys, as this is a family place, exercise self restraint and don’t be loud, but definitely a place worth trying 11) loo next to metro station opposite former metro cinema: this was a good place before, it still exists, ppl still hook up here.. 12) new empire cinema: once infamous for its gallery stand and the hottest action place, sadly the gallery is closed but I’ve seen condoms and guys loitering in the toilets inside, interesting but not quite sure B) PARK STREET: Adjoining esplanade this too has become very popular among cruisers due to its close proximity to the north Kolkata office circuit and the metro, 1) Park Street metro: the metro station opposite to Park Street which houses the famous park hotel and trincas etc Is a small work shed next to the metro if u walk towards Maidan on the right, easy to locate, u can spot guys coming in and out urinating and making eye contact, once u cross the work shed and the bushes there’s a lake inside with cemented banks and lots of trees, ideal for cruising throughout the day and more after dark, expect lot of crowd during the evening office hours 2) street leading to Park Street from esplanade: late night lot of shemales and *** workers line this street next to the numerous shops for e.g the Austin car showroom leading to Park hotel, might get lucky who knows 3) red road to Park Street: very cruising after dark, particularly for shemales and *** workers, walk alongside the pavement on either side and u can easily spot them in the dark waiting for potential clients along the numerous statues and gardens that line this road 4) the dark pavement towards maidan: the entire stretch of footpath from Park Street towards maidan, try your luck C)MAIDAN: A big area comprising of defence battalions, army, crpf and cisf, plus the iconic Victoria memorial, the sports clubs, maidan has a deep rooted history in this city for its big fields and are frequented by gay and straight folks throughout the day, for sport activities or cab drivers napping during a hot Kolkata afternoon, maidan is truly a cruisers paradise, it is also to be known that maidan is a vast place and be prepared to walk huge distances I) field opposite jibandeep: there is a field opposite reh jibandeep metro which is frequented by defence guys and gay guys too, there is a brick lane that connects the footpath which is bang opposite sail building to an opening on the right, lots of action happens next to the small pond on the right, police frequents these areas as well on bikes, be cautious 2) Victoria gardens: yea you heard it right, though frequented by straight couples looking for fun, the Victoria gardens are huge and there are empty pockets where u can find gay guys too. 3) opposite Victoria main next to dancing fountain: The grounds next to the fountains where you find lots of horse drawn carriages, has been a gay hotspot for years, however not very cruising now, but still one might get lucky 4)fort William grounds: the signal bang opposite fort Williams and the adjoining grounds scattered everywhere are frequented by defence men and sport persons and usually stick around till 6 in the evening, use your eyes and “nakhras” to the full!! 😆 5) the roads leading to esplanade bus stand: remember all the roads in maidan are particularly cruisy after dark, but not all places are crowded or frequented by many gay guys due to the inconvenience of walking long distances, walk along the foot path and you can easily catch eager people trying to connect D) BABUGHAT: 1) Babughat banks: the river bank on Babughat are active whole day not for cruising particularly but interesting sights all around, wether it’s the hunky masseurs or people getting the massage, the locals also bathe semi nude, feast for the eyes 2) road towards princep: ok this place is quite eventful: Walk towards princep Ghat on the left footpath, first you will encounter shemales; And few metres there’s a Defence Colony with security at the gate, try your luck late night, I’ve and I’ve gotten lucky more than once The park on the right next to banks can be interesting place if u know the tricks of the trade, lots of local guys here at any given time of the day or the night 3) princep Ghat: the Ghat after 7pm is quite cruisy, in the actual monument, the river banks, and the station nearby, plus the view of the Hooghly bridge is just breathtaking 4) cement outcrop: walk along the train lines towards khiddirpore station from princep ghat after dark obviously and u’ll find an abandoned cement outcrop on the right side which extends over the river Ghat , this place is very cruisy, as described by other users here, be cautious with your valuables offcourse...

PARKS: Parks in Kolkata have always been known to attract guys looking for *** and ***... parks are also famous for its anonymity and social gathering, there are several of them all over the city and it won’t be surprising if I left out a few, coz there is no possibility that I could visit them all, coz it’s just impossible, also pls note all the places mentioned are verified places of cruising; verified by yours truly; could miss a few ones, check other threads on Ohmojo and see for yourself, and pls explore your local parks to check and post for yourself. CAUTION: most popular cruising parks have been popular for decades and are thus frequented by anti socials and cops as well, read the title post; please be SAFE, getting caught, mugged, robbed or even threatened can may seem to scar you for life, but always always always be confident, even if you are shitting your pants on the inside; never let your fear show through.. and have fun coz most of them are ;)!! A) RABINDRA SAROVAR LAKES/ LAKE GARDEN LAKES: ok this place is legendary and it is home to gay cruisers for decades, tik tokers now, artists, photographers, straight couples, elderly, and even hookers; The lakes is a huge park that is accessible most easily from the gate opposite menoka cinema, this is close to Rabindra Sarovar metro, and also close to lake garden train station, the park in itself is based around the lake, and cruising happens in most parts in varying degrees, when you enter the gate from menoka, try walking the dimly lit lane on your left and then move inside the grounds when you see the edge of the lake on the right, this small piece of land is the most active, walk around and you can explore by yourself, there are benches around with senior gays chatting and curiosity asking “bhai kota baaje” ( what’s the time?) even with fully functioning watches in their very hands... I always find this pickup line funny... and then there are serious cruisers at the edge of the lake next to the CALCUTTA ROWING CLUB, always active after dark, can’t get any major action though, even if u are tempted, take a call and calculate your risk; get peoples number, use grindr or ur skills, remember this is an age old cruising place so most of the locals and non gay park visitors are aware of this places’ reputation, be cautious. there was a recent renovation where the park was restored with gardens, new lights installed, as usual time playing spoil sport... damn these municipal corporations 🤣 This lake park further extends beyond the exit where the new Tagore statue is installed, cross the road, walk towards the Calcutta rowing club main building and walk towards the parking and the clubs entrance, the lane next to clubs entrance is Wat leads to another park, this one leads to Dhakuria bridge or the lake garden station, however compared to the park described above this one is less crowded and open till late, walk straight as you enter the lane past *** straight couples sitting on benches after dark and then as you reach the parks central zone you can see the lake’s bank curving to the right, use this lane as your guide for cruising as it is the most active area, walk along the edge of the lake, you’ll definitely find interested people sitting on benches that are looking for action. There’s a slum nearby so lot of localites and ruffians to play spoilsport, be cautious, during rainy seasons the pavements can get slippery and the lakes are usually full to the brim, be careful so as not to fall, it’s very dimly lit, if u can’t swim ... ahem!! B) NANDAN COMPLEX: again this place is quite popular among the gays, intellectuals, and artsy folk of the city, this place next to Rabindra Sadan metro is ICONIC to say the least, it houses the famous Nandan cinema, and is the main host venue of Kolkata International Film Festival; this Complex is a conglomerate of small museums, theatres and cinemas with a park with benches and fountains for people to hang out before or after a screening; the surroundings of the theatre is usually frequented by gays, and queens, lesbians and everyone else, this place is usually a gathering of liberal people, so expect minimal discrimination here, however this place is a social gathering place, with minimal hanky panky, use Grindr, amongst others and see it pinging non stop; not every gay cruising place has to culminate in ***, watch a play, a movie or just bask in the intellectual air of this city, while having excellent momos from street vendors nearby. C) MINTO PARK: This one is an oldie, next to Bellevue hospitals, at the Sarat Bose Road and AJC Bose road crossing, this place had been infamous for gays before, it’s quite a small place with just one squarish lane surrounding a central water body, this place was open till late years before, and was dimly lit ; everything you want your cruising place to be, lost it’s popularity in recent years. Can be accessed easily from Rabindra Sarovar metro D)ELLIOT PARK: Bang opposite the Rabindra Sadan building adjoining Nandan on the road towards St. Paul’s cathedral this place is frequented by gay as well straight couples and singles, many curious first time city visitors gawk at the unabashed PDA by straight couples.. and then there are pockets of the park that are dark and are utilised by gays, these places are mostly around the edges farther from the crowd, towards the edge, not difficult to locate... visit and explore for yourself.. E) VICTORIA GROUNDS: This place though famous for straight couples and tourists, still has gay people visiting, don’t forget you are at the famous Victoria grounds, it is huge and chances are you will find gay guys inside, the downside though is it is a paid entry park, and is strictly timed being a national heritage site, still worth a try. Exit from the gates where the horse drawn carriages are parked, and walk past them to the grounds adjoining and you will definitely find interesting people after dark, remember this is tHe Maidan after all, its huge, be patient, and have a keen eye around P.S out of context: pls refrain from using these carriages for a joy ride and ask your family and friends to do the same, I know riding on a carriage around old Calcutta might seem charming, but have a look at the Poor horses and you’ll know what I’m talking about, they are highly emancipated most of them with their bones showing through, hardly fed, and made to work the whole day in hot kolkata weather... Just Don’t!! F) FORT WILLIAM GROUNDS: well this doesn’t exactly classify as a park, but what the heck, visit the huge grounds next to pavements near fort William crossing, especially during evenings and you are bound to find many military men and sport persons who are jogging and probably playing sports ... use your nakhras to the hilt, being little bit feminine helps 😉, chat up with them, and use your “skills” ... there is no guidance here, either u got it or you don’t...FORt William is a historical place with relevance before the first war of independence and Mangal Pandey era, so be aware it’s a massive complex which doesn’t seem so from outside, so definitely try your luck if army men are your thing (I know they are definitely mine) G) MILLENNIUM PARK: The entire embankment of the howrah river from princep Ghat to Babughat and beyond has been beautified and turned into a mishmash of parks, these parks are extremely cruisy especially the millennium park III gate, these are open pretty late into the night, expect d I c k s along with localites looking for quick cash, be cautious, easily accessible by any bus enroute howrah station and Babughat... quite a walk though be prepared... H) DESHBANDHU PARK: Just next to Shyambazar metro this park is an old one, however this is equally frequented by straight guys also, active in the evening times, just been there once, so nothing more to say, there’s a thread devoted to this park so kindly refer that for more info I) TRIANGULAR PARK: This is an old one, very inactive, was cruisy a long time back, lost its glory J) PARK CIRCUS GROUNDS: This place in between donbosco school and the 7th point crossing, was highly cruisy with hungry gays greedy for some halal ***, but times have changed, not highly active, but still worth a try, be cautious though. K) BENUBAN CHAYA PARK: Ok this is a recent find, this park that I recently went to is situated next to the floating market in Patuli and on bypass road, this is quite the park!! Trust me when I tell you, this place is sorta cruisy but has all the elements of making a great cruising place, though it is swarming with straight couples all sitting around two adjoining lakes, there is one active cruising area if u walk from the gate and walk straight after taking the right to the extreme end where a circular seating place is made..again I met a curious man who was very keen on knowing what time it was but in no hurry to leave the park, visit this place, it’s beautiful; plus a quaint cafe on an abandoned tram.... worth a visit for south Kol guys, easily accessible by Khudiram metro... That’s it for PARK section guys, I’m pretty sure there are many more, but it is physically impossible to have visited them all, I’m sure I’ve missed quite a few places, requesting readers to contribute as well, make an anonymous ID , it hardly takes minutes...

I saw a Shemale, she called me but I refused. I went further towards fortwilliam, another Shemale which I liked. She took me into the field. And *** me. Caution: Most are str8 guys and not really gay-friendly. You can expose your tool and pretend to pee while catching glimpse of the other hot (str8) guys in the open urinals. I have seen many guys there but nobody showed interest. Can see *** of various shapes and sizes. Same goes for Shreeram Arcade ground floor loo. It's opposite Citimart.
