Homophobic relatives

Submitted by wingedcupid Location: All India (All India, India)

Hey people, what sort of subtle or blatant homophobia have u experienced from gender stereotypical relatives

Not that we care about their comments, it would be good to know how silly the mindset is

When I was a child, my aunt, my grandfather and others used to taught me how not to walk like a girl.
They put me in such embarrassing situations that I hate those days even now.

I don't think anyone's wrong until anyone's being really physically / mentally hurt . Everyone's entitled to have their opinions. We may like it or not but it's basically their opinion to begin with .

Like lgbtq people think others are closed minded and they're very liberal or something & the other people think that lgbtq people are freaks , but well both of them have their opinions. So no one's to blame

My cousins all looked down on me playing with girls, dolls etc. Even some of the cousins (females) went on to pass remark that my actions resemble trans women

I am in my 30s and looking at what age did to those girls, i feel more beautiful than them

Fortunately no one took any mission to straighten me but i still gets awfuly disrespected by aunts and uncles for not mingling with men when relatives gather.

Only mum and dad loved me with no single remark till date to act masculine. That's more than enough for me.

People are always welcome to have there own open views but freek is when own family oy mock n not help to get away with any challenges no matter it's physical or mental health ...as taboo being GAY OR LESBIAN is not a decease but at the same time the same family and relatives who was supposed to help support and be with any condition person if they mock n make a mockery to have sadistic hapiness for there timepass or self entertainment is bad....

Again not all LGBT COMMUNITY people are angels with Harp...cos within LGBT only many are there who mock n trouble fellow LGBT people BY LOOKS, STATUS, ATIRE or so many such factors ... examples like few like toned ,few like twicks, few like sugar dadies ,few other tg ...few like cross dressing few hate , few like kinky few see others who have abovementioned listed choice as YUK ....

few chat tons wen met see the opposite person n run away ...if these are out of family few elders who r Homosexuals or pedophilia who exploit u der age kids or make *** slaves n keep for years so many people who I met openly say they were inducted into gay bisexual life by there cousins, uncle's, few even father's n own Brother's ...list goes on ....yes very few r self enlightened Gyanis who r not Influenced to be Gay Or bisexuals (like me) 😂 LOL....

So it's all mix....not that few category people r good or bad ... everything everyone everywhere are mix of GOOD N BAD ....for a discussion sake a debate or online thread can go on ... but it goes on n on ...sone r mutual some are not .... So it's not 🚫 of anything...I close with no conclusion but put my view not expecting any acknowledgment but it's my view anymany can differ from it , but again I won't care if mocked

Most of your older relatives will die while you will have half your life left to live after that. Don't let them affect you.
As for cousins and younger relatives, who gives a fuc* about them!

I hear you guys about bullying by family, relatives, friends, and society. It is very rampant in our society because Indians are very hypocritical and they only believe in proving themselves bigger by making someone else feel smaller.

Look around, a dark skinned person will be called Kallu, Kaaliya, Kaali, Kaalimata; a poor person will be always remined of his/ her status in society; a woman without kids will be constantly reminded as how she is incomplete because she does not bear kids, an unmarried man or woman will be questioned of their intentions, a girl acting like a tomboy or boy acting little girlish will be questionned about their sexual orientation, sexual capacity and so on. The root at all these is feeling of superiority by the perpetrator.

You cannot change your skin colour, physical features, sexual orientation, mannerism.. well you can fake it, but not really change it.

How to address this... remember this is power game.. the more power you give to others, the more they will put you down. To fight a bitch, be a bitch. No need to be "nice" and "sensitive". Fight back. Support someone who is fighting back. Challenge someone who is putting someone else down for their own power right.

Above all: Remember Power and Money goes together. You have to make money. Once people know you have money, their attitude will change. Always work towards common goal of your own upliftment. Making career, starting business, making money, investing, moving in powerful circles, making great network. Always make friends with people older than you who can teach you making money, developing skills, and so on. Make yourself a goal that by age of 25- 30 yyears your net worth will be X amount. You will see the change in the behaviour of your so called relatives very soon.

1 thing is very important, you owe no explanation or justification to anyone else but your parents- Not your brothers/ sisters, cousins, grandparents, uncle and aunts or society.

Well said! It's important to have a think skin to deal with society and people, especially in India. They are a bunch of hypocrites who say that India is progressive but would also sit by a tea shop and make fun of a transgender or a effeminate guy.

Remember you guys, you don't owe anyone anything. Your identity is a part of you, you don't need to justify it to anyone. If you've accepted who you are, that's all that matters. The rest can go *** themselves.

Its really motivating.... exactly my thoughts....and I know a guy who's living his life on his terms... it's truly said that you have to make money. Once people know you have money, their attitude will change!....always make friends with people older than you who can teach you making money, developing skills, and so on.....this sentance is what j belive is most relatable to me...i always have many bottom friends who are older than me...its always fun and motivating to hear thier struggles and experiences from various incidents!
