Its very simply defined in our work ship God Arthanareeswarar in Hindu. Most people don’t understand that both male and female energies exist within every single person.

Masculinity rules the left side of the brain: logic, thought, risk and rush.

Femininity rules the right side of the brain: being, understanding, feeling and nurturing.

It’s the society that’s classified some the gender roles as masculine and feminine. With each passing decade we are seeing a slight shift. A few decades ago men were meant to work outside and women manage homes. Then women started working but in jobs like nurses, teacher, fashion designers and the men were pilots, engineers, drivers. All that changed too. Until a few years back it was considered feminine if men shopped ,groomed or took care of themselves but they now have a term called “metrosexual man. The latest research even claims its good for men to cry, show emotions but we grew up believing “boys don’t cry”. The point I am making is the definitions of what constitutes masculine and feminine behaviour will keep changing. In fact in Europe the school uniforms are becoming gender neutral. The child can pick what he/she wants to wear. Our mythology supports Arthanareeshwar, story of Krishna/Arjuna/Shikandi taking female/male forms.I assume there is a % of masculine and Feminine characteristics in every individual. However if you are a man with dominant feminine characteristics you are bound to come under social radar as a outcast and vice versa applies. What finally matters is how happy we are in the way we live our lives and not how the world wants us to live our lives.

@pandi - I felt this question was quite abstract. What do you mean by feminine nature ? Is this in context in a gay person's perspective ? I am not sure if I got ur context right. But here goes my reply based on my view

There s nothing as feminine or masculine with respect to habits. For example shopping, " shopping" has been stereotyped as female thing as only female does that... Not at all, I am an impulsive shopper and infact more impulsive than my wife or mom or my sister put together. When people comment about my shopping I find it weird why do they want to tag that to any gender.. Likewise we ourselves have a lot of stereotypes as feminine or masculine. As humans we have all straits irrespective of gender.

I too shop like anything (mindful shopping infact), but am very particular about the stuff I buy and look for all the nuances. My friends or family members accompany me often go tired. So no behaviour is to be stamped basis of gender. Most shockingly now a days if somebody is kind, polite and gentle that is also considered female qualities- very strange , isn't it?? Those are the qualities every human should possess in my views.

@valentine84 - Sorry that I have started a topic without proper. Moreover very rarely I bite my nails of my hand fingers while I am in tension people used to comment in the same way that time I feel wierd actually

Description : What I about to ask was exactly mentioned by exotic.% of masculine and feminine characters in every individual. Here feminine is used to denote the exact meaning as nalinam in Tamil (for clear understanding nadai udai Bhavani). At one time or other is every individual think themselves as other gender in front of mirror ? Like the way I am asking

@pandi1980 It may exist and the percentage differs from person to person. Some guys may have some girlish slang when they talk or walk...some may like standing before mirror enjoy their beauty but it is all relative in my opinion. But guys cannot expose their feminine qualities outside as there is high possibility of being ridiculed

It is a very complicated phenomenon. I am totally not interested in sports right from my younger days. I love cooking, reading, listening to music and quite religious. I am an introvert and a quite person and try to mingle only with like minded people. Infact during my teens, all these things where seen as effeminate characters and some even advised my parents to seek the help of a psychologist!!! For a very long time this had a huge psychological impact on me. Those where times where even the word gay was unknown in India. Thanks to internet, then started the era of information where in we get to meet people of similar orientation and realize that ones orientation and hobbies need not as per social dictims. Infact i met a guy in orkut who was happily married with two grown up kids but would wear a saree in night especially if he had to have *** with his wife. Infact his wife loves dressing him like a women with her clothes and he had posted so many pics of him in saree with his wife. What i mean to say is in general we gays are more soft natured and polite compared to straight but it cannot be taken as effeminate character. I love men but equally love my masculinity and enjoy the feeling that I was blessed to be born as a man.But there are some among us who love men and also love to be a women and they get judged easily in the society. It is important to realize that sexuality itself is a spectrum which extends from tansexuals to straights with l/g somewhere in the middle.

Ok let me take some class to all of you (pun intended). When we say there is a man inside every women and vice versa, it is biologically true. The X chromosome is common to both man and women. Similarly man also produces the female hormone estrogen and women also produces male hormone testosterone. It is the ratio of these two hormones which decides ones behavior. Of course I have over simplified it for everyone to understand. Sexual behavior is much much more complex than we actually thought.

Yes feminine nature is inherent in every man and masculine nature inherent in every woman
